Carnivorous predator.
- Eats fish, shrimp, worms, pellets and other meaty foods
- Feed 2–3 times per week depending on size
Behavior:
- Highly predatory — will consume any fish it can overpower or swallow
- Primarily bottom-dwelling but very powerful and active, especially at feeding time
- Best kept alone or with fish of the same size
Max Size:
- Up to 6 feet (180 cm) in the wild
- Can still exceed 3–4 feet in captivity under proper conditions
