Blue Ghost Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare sp)
Blue Ghost Angelfish — Pterophyllum scalare sp.
Subtle shimmer. Silent glide.
The Blue Ghost Angelfish is a refined, minimalist take on the classic angelfish. Instead of bold bars or heavy patterning, this variety carries a soft silver-to-ice-blue body with reduced striping, creating a clean “ghosted” appearance. Under proper lighting, a metallic blue sheen emerges across the flanks and fins, giving the fish a cool, glass-like glow as it moves.
True to its Amazonian roots, the Blue Ghost glides vertically through the water column with calm precision. It hovers among driftwood and plants before pivoting effortlessly, adding height and elegance to the aquarium. In small groups, they create a layered display that enhances depth and structure in planted or wood-accented setups.
Growing to about 6 inches in body length with much taller finnage, they remain peaceful for their size while maintaining classic cichlid awareness and social hierarchy.
